  • What can I put in a skip bin?

Our bins are suitable for the following types of general, business and construction waste:

    • General waste: This includes general household waste such as cardboard, paper, timber, clothes and toys. You can also dispose of white goods with the exception of fridge/freezers and computer/electronic equipment.
    • Construction waste: This includes waste materials such as bricks, steel, scrap metal, glass, concrete, pavers and ceramics. Basically, any waste building material that is suitable for recycling.
    • Dirt & Soil: This includes garden waste or spoils from an excavation project. There are strict weight limits for bins, so be careful not to overload the skip. We will advise you on maximum weight limits when you make a booking.
    • Green waste: This includes garden waste such as woodchips, tree branches, weeds and grass clippings. Soil and dirt will need to be put in a separate skip.

You can find out more information about what you can and can’t put in our skips by checking out our blog post what can I put in a skip bin? If you’d like to speak to someone from our team, contact us today and we’ll be happy to assist!

  • When is it best to hire a mini skip bin?

A mini skip is smaller than a full-size skip bin, which makes it more suitable for residential projects. Look to hire a mini skip bin for projects where a wheelie bin is too small and a full-size skip bin is too large. These are typically special projects such as house renovations or seasonal tasks such as landscaping and tree pruning. Check out our blog what is a mini skip bin if you’d like to learn more!

  • What sustainability practices does your business take to reduce the amount of rubbish in landfill?

As part of our commitment to reducing landfill, Chilli Bins only use Green Star-approved recovery centres for the disposal of waste. These facilities have been audited to ensure they recycle as much waste as possible. As a result, we can state that around 85% of the waste we collect is recycled. Check out our blog to learn more about the importance of sustainable waste management!

  • Can I place a skip bin on my driveway?

Yes, you can place a skip bin on your driveway, provided it’s structurally sound and can support the weight of the bin. However, it’s always best to check with your local council to ensure there are no specific regulations or requirements for skip bin placement on private property.

  • Do I need a permit to place a skip bin on the street?

If you’re placing your skip bin on your own private property, then you’re unlikely to require a permit. However, on public land you’ll need to obtain a permit from your local council.

  • How long can I keep a skip bin?

We usually offer skip bin hire for up to seven days, but if you’ve got a long-term project, you can hire one of our skips for as long as you need. Contact us directly to discuss how we can best accommodate your needs.

  • How much notice do I need to give to book a skip bin?

At Chilli Bins Skip Bins, we’re proud to offer a guaranteed next day skip bin hire service to our customers on the Sunshine Coast. Because we’re a local business, in many cases we can also offer same day skip delivery service.

  • Can I hire a skip bin for a single day?

Yes, we offer skip bin hire for a single day. Our flexible rental options mean that you only pay for the days you need, so you won’t be charged extra for a longer rental period.

  • How do I book a skip bin?

Booking a skip bin is easy. You can call us on 1800 358 955 or use the enquiry form on our website and we’ll get back to you. Just select the size and type of skip bin you require, tell us where you need it delivered and when you want it picked up, and we’ll take care of the rest. If you’re not sure what size skip bin you need, our friendly team can help you determine the right size for your project.

  • What if I need to change the delivery or pick up date of my skip bin?

If you need to change the delivery or pick-up date of your skip bin, just give us a call as soon as possible. We understand that projects can change, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs. While we can typically accommodate change requests, please note that changes to delivery and pick-up dates may be subject to availability.

  • What happens to the waste in the skip bin after it's collected?

After your skip bin is collected, the waste is taken to a Green Star-approved recovery centre for sorting and processing. The materials are then recycled or disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Our commitment to sustainability means that we strive to recycle as much waste as possible to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill.

  • What if I overload the skip bin?

Overloading the skip bin can be dangerous and may result in additional fees. We have weight limits for each size of skip bin, and we’ll advise you of these limits when you make a booking. If you’re unsure about the weight limits, please contact us for advice. If you do overload the skip bin, we may need to remove some of the waste before we can safely transport it, which may result in additional fees. Luckily, we offer a wide range of skip bin sizes so you can hire a skip bin large enough to suit your needs.

  • Do I need to be present when the skip bin is delivered and collected?

No, you don’t need to be present when the skip bin is delivered or collected, so long as we have clear access to the delivery and pick-up location.
